Movie Monday: 20/20 Graphic Design Mistakes

John Stossel, famed 20/20 investigative reporter, does a scathing indepth report on the three common design mistakes Americans make. I don’t want to spoil it for you, but I’d suggest getting something to take notes with, as it moves pretty quick. …

Woah! Damien Hirst opening tonight at the MCA

Rock star artist extrodinarre Damien Hirst’s signature works, including Saint Sebastian, Exquisite Pain(pictured), from his Natural History series presenting animals preserved in formaldehyde and displayed in large glass vitrines.

Hirst was the crowned the King of Art, after the most recent grudge match against USA’s own golden boy Matthew Barney.

Barney held his own, supported by his corner-man Bjork, but Hirst ladned his fatal blow with the release of his Diamond Skull, a cast of a human skull covered in 8,601 diamonds.

So, get thee there. Marvel in the post-modern pop-culture. Peep all them animals, count all the butterflies, and remember: this is as good as it’s ever gonna get. You should be so lucky to see these wonders. You should thank curator Cydney Peyton for looking out for your culture-less hipster ass.

You should hire yourself a design professional

The internets are a-buzz with chatter regarding Vodafone’s image faux pau. If you look closely you’ll see the iPhone OS “photoslopped” into the display. The tint-shifted version of Google maps is tolerable, but the inclusion of Mobile Safari and the super iconic “Home Screen” is just bush league.

This is such a “beginner’s mistake” that I wonder if it wasn’t done maliciously? It takes some serious balls to try to get fired in these economic times.

Have a gander before Vodaphone gets their shit together and pulls it.

I can haz Examiner.com integration?

As recently reported, I write for Examiner.com as the Denver Art Examiner. And one would think that I could integrate these two blogs, automagically via the innernets. So that’s what I’m going to try and do.

Basically, I try and cover art-attention worthy events. Especially upcoming or underground artists. If you have a tip or an event you’d like covered, give me a shout. I’ll be adding a new Examiner category, and hopefully, can automate the posting process. Fingers crossed.
