Out of Sequence opening

The Lab at Belmar is the place to be tomorrow night as two killer shows offer up their opening reception.

Out of Sequence: Underrepresented Voices in American Comics seeks

to showcase American comics and sequential art that steps outside the traditional bounds of the medium. The exhibition focuses on comics made by women and minority creators as well as work created with nontraditional techniques and experimental design. It will showcase sequential artwork from its incipient stages to the present. Focusing on overlooked and the underrepresented artists, Out of Sequence attempts to paint a broad picture of American sequential art masters and, in so doing, express the limitless possibilities of this art form.

Out of Sequence is co-curated by Damian Duffy and John Jennings and organized by the Krannert Art Museum and Kinkead Pavilion at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Members can enjoy a preview and walkthrough from 6:00 – 7:00 pm, all us regular folk can get in from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. DJ Magic Cyclops will be on hand to tantalize your ears into submission – or something like that.
